This week on the water
There sure are some nice salmon in the local waters these days. Chinook (Kings) have been steady, and we have had some amazing Coho (Silvers) action during the past week. The Tuna have also shown up in the deep water Canyons farther offshore. Cold water Albacore Tuna are great eating and exhilarating to catch, a trip out to the blue water is like heading to the sub tropics for the day from Vancouver Island. Please email for availability.

Calm seas and some great salmon fishing have been the theme of the past couple of weeks in Tofino BC. Pulses of Chinook and Coho salmon have been stopping to feed on small herring along the scenic outside edge of the islands. While we are open to retention of these tasty fish we had a couple of lucky anglers release a nice 'Tyee' (32lb) Chinook salmon a few days back. Releasing the big ones is a great way to help sustain the gene pool for coming generations of Chinook.

Helicopter fishing from Tofino is a amazing way to spend a day on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Fly over mountain ridges and old growth rain forest on route to local mountain rivers in the comfort of a Bell 206. We had a great trip this past week with a group from Texas and caught rainbow and cutthroat on the fly and spinning gear. A shore lunch and fly casting lessons are included. learn more here
